Gestalt therapy, developed in the 1940s, was originally developed as an alternative to psychoanalysis. Being a humanist existential therapy Gestalt therapists use creative and experiential techniques to enhance awareness, freedom, and self-direction. The word gestalt comes from the German word meaning shape or form, and it references the character or essence of something. A client centred modality it works with empathy and unconditional positive regard for an individuals situation/ life story.

Clinical Supervision provides an opportunity for practitioners to reflect and review, access resources, explore ethical dilemmas, and learn new skills to enhance self-care, build resilience, self-confidence and professional growth.

Consultancy and supervision focuses on safety and appropriate practice working in a clinical setting. Taking the individual, their work environment and their clients into consideration. As well as individual skills, experience, stage of development and learning needs. Practitioners will be able to see progress through the development of reflective practice techniques, self-care, and clinical skills.
As well as understanding and contextualising organisational objectives and relate these to practice, boundaries and ethical practice requirements.
ARE YOU STUCK IN AN OFFICE ALL DAY? DO YOU GET OUTSIDE MUCH?
I can take the therapy session outside. We notice the birds, the animals, the trees, the wind. I help people slow down and pay attention to inner and outer experience. I work outdoors for the therapy hour, or for longer sessions by negotiation. We can simply walk and talk and/or use more focused awareness exercises or ritual processes. We may decide to sit in one location for the session. However, all the traditional boundaries for effective psychotherapy will apply, including agreed focus for our work and agreements concerning confidentiality. This is especially important, as we may occasionally encounter other people whilst outside.

I believe that everyone is capable of drawing on the strength within themselves to change thoughts, feelings, habits, patterns and behaviors that may be limiting their life.
Together we can address issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, family dilemmas, dealing with conflict, self esteem, work/life balance, addictions, trauma and life crises such as chronic health support.
Through exploration of life experiences and how we have learnt to respond to our world, in a caring, respectful space of safe containment, the opportunity developing new insights and self awareness occurs. Supporting the integration of both left- and right-brain processes & enhance the 'felt senses' we may use creative processes: sand, clay, symbols, picture cards or art materials. We work together to discover personal insights and then integrate that awareness to improve your way of dealing with the issues that occur in day to day living.

Whether you have an issue you wish to focus on in 3-12 sessions or are looking for longer term support for a more complex situation, together we develop a treatment plan to suit your needs.
